Dr. Kelly Paxton’s desire to pursue dentistry started when she was a teenage dental patient. Her positive experience, after having her own dental problems, made her realize that she too could make a difference in a person’s life. Dr. Paxton was born and raised in Michigan and earned a Biology degree from the University of Detroit Mercy while running on their Division 1 Track and Field team. She continued her education at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2006.
Over the past 15 years of practicing dentistry, Dr. Paxton has furthered her dental training through the Spear Academy and Dawson Academy. Her recent focus has been on all aspects of cosmetic dentistry and working towards accreditation with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. She additionally is completing over 300 hours of continuing education on implant dentistry. She has been an Invisalign provider since 2013, participating in year-round continuing education. Dr. Paxton stays up to date with national dental standards through the American Dental Association and locally through the Tidewater Dental Association. She has utilized CEREC technology for over 15 years, providing same day crowns in our office, reducing the need for temporaries. Dr. Paxton believes recent advancements in technology can make your dental visit shorter and more comfortable.
When not in the office making smiles, Dr. Paxton is chasing her two very active sons around. She and her husband, Rob, love sharing their enthusiasm of sports, music and the outdoors with their family. Dr. Paxton gains tremendous satisfaction from working to improve her patients’ smile and, as a result, their confidence. She hopes to inspire future patients, just like she was as a teenager.
